Necas scores twice as Avalanche rout Blues 6-1
Martin Necas had two goals and an assist, and Colorado has scored six or more in each of its first two games.
Colorado built a six-goal lead through two periods and defeated St. Louis 6-1 at Ball Arena on Oct. 3, with Martin Necas contributing two goals and an assist.
The Avalanche improved to 2-0-0 after scoring at least six goals in both outings. Nathan MacKinnon set up three goals, while Nicolas Roy, Artturi Lehkonen and Josh Manson finished with two points apiece. Cale Makar scored Colorado's other goal, Parker Kelly supplied two assists and Mackenzie Blackwood stopped 25 shots.
Makar's goal at 4:09 and Necas' at 13:12 gave Colorado a 2-0 advantage in the first period. Manson added to it at 5:38 of the second, followed by Lehkonen at 11:40. Roy and Necas then scored 23 seconds apart, at 18:02 and 18:25, to put the game beyond St. Louis.
Dalibor Dvorsky ended Blackwood's shutout bid at 2:34 of the third. Jordan Binnington finished with 30 saves for the Blues, who were 1-1-0 through 2 games after beating Dallas 4-0 a night earlier.
