Montembeault Hopes to Play Canadiens’ Hockeyville Game Near Home
Montreal has not named its roster for Monday’s preseason meeting with Ottawa in Trois-Rivières; the Bécancour native hopes to take part.
Samuel Montembeault would welcome the chance to play near home when the Montreal Canadiens face the Ottawa Senators in Monday's Kraft Hockeyville preseason game in Trois-Rivières. Coach Martin St-Louis had not announced a roster as of Sunday's practice, so the goaltender's participation remains undecided.
Montembeault, from nearby Bécancour, told the Canadiens that he expects family and friends at the game if he is selected. He said the event would matter to the broader community. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.
Montreal resumed training camp Sunday in Brossard after two preseason wins over Toronto. Lucas Condotta, Alexandre Carrier and Jake Evans did not skate in the team groups that day; Dillan Bentley, Josh Nadeau and Laurent Dauphin filled their respective spots.
