Auston Matthews scored a power-play goal with 12 seconds left in the second period to draw the Toronto Maple Leafs level at 1-1 with the San Jose Sharks on Monday, Oct. 19.

Kirill Marchenko and Darren Raddysh assisted on the goal at Scotiabank Arena. The NHL’s game record lists it as Matthews’ seventh goal of the season.

San Jose received a bench minor for too many men at 19:41. Matthews scored seven seconds later, at 19:48, to erase the lead Mason Marchment had given the Sharks in the first period.

The goal was shown in a Sportsnet highlight of the play. Toronto entered the game seeking to end a three-game losing streak.
