Pittsburgh Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin will not play against the Nashville Predators on Saturday, Oct. 24, because of an illness, NHL.com reported.

Malkin participated in Pittsburgh’s optional morning skate after missing practice Friday, but he remained unavailable for the game at PPG Paints Arena, scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.

Justin Brazeau wore a regular contact jersey during the morning skate, according to NHL.com’s lineup report. He has yet to play this season after being injured in a preseason game on Sept. 21.
