Kyle Connor scores late as Jets hand Avalanche first loss

Connor's goal at 19:00 of the third period lifted Winnipeg to a 3-2 win over Colorado, which had opened the season with two wins.

Kyle Connor’s second goal of the night broke a 2-2 tie with 60 seconds remaining as Winnipeg defeated Colorado 3-2 at Canada Life Centre on Wednesday, Oct. 7.

Mark Scheifele supplied the pass for Connor’s winner at 19:00 of the third period. Connor had previously redirected Neal Pionk’s shot at 4:01 of the second, answering Jaden Schwartz’s opening goal 70 seconds earlier.

Cole Perfetti gave the Jets a 2-1 advantage at 18:16 of the second when Dylan Samberg’s shot struck his skate. Samberg collected two assists.

Colorado drew level through Fedor Svechkov at 12:35 of the third. Schwartz and Svechkov each contributed a goal and an assist.

Stuart Skinner’s 32 saves helped Winnipeg reach 3-0-1. Mackenzie Blackwood made 16 saves for Colorado, which dropped to 2-1-0.
