The Seattle Kraken acquired Matthew Wood from the Nashville Predators in exchange for Shane Wright on Sunday, Nov. 1, the clubs announced.

Wright joins Nashville after scoring three goals and adding one assist in 14 games for Seattle this season. The Kraken selected him fourth overall in the 2022 NHL Draft. He had 19 goals and 25 assists in 79 games during the 2024-25 season, then recorded 12 goals and 15 assists in 74 games last season, according to Nashville’s announcement.

Wood heads to Seattle with one goal and two assists through 14 games this season. Nashville selected him 15th overall in 2023. He scored 17 goals and finished with 30 points in his rookie season last year, according to Seattle.

The Kraken’s announcement described Wood as an addition of size to their forward group. Seattle is also without Jared McCann, who is expected to miss up to 10 weeks with a lower-body injury.

Nashville general manager Chris MacFarland said in the team’s announcement that he expects Wright to contribute a two-way game and help the pace of the Predators’ lineup.
