Kendall Coyne Schofield Re-Signs With Minnesota Frost for Two Years

The Minnesota Frost announced Monday they have re-signed captain Kendall Coyne Schofield to a two-year contract through the 2027-28 season. The deal ends any speculation that the 34-year-old might step away after winning Olympic gold with Team USA in February.

Coyne Schofield finished the 2025-26 season with 23 points in 23 games, one of only three PWHL players to average a point per game or better. She led all skaters with a plus-22 rating and set a career-high 16.9 shooting percentage. Through three PWHL seasons, she has 63 points in 77 games, tied for third on the league's all-time scoring list, and her career plus-46 is the best in PWHL history.

"My first three seasons in Minnesota have been unforgettable for my family and me," Coyne Schofield said in a statement. "We're thrilled to be back for the next two seasons and can't wait to return for Season Four."

The signing keeps Minnesota's entire leadership core together. Coyne Schofield has captained the Frost since the league's inaugural season, leading the team to back-to-back Walter Cup championships in 2024 and 2025. Alternate captains Lee Stecklein and Kelly Pannek, both foundational signings alongside Coyne Schofield before the PWHL's first season, also remain under contract.

A four-time Olympian and seven-time world champion with Team USA, Coyne Schofield won the 2016 Patty Kazmaier Award at Northeastern University, where she holds the program's all-time record with 141 goals. She became the first player in PWHL history to score in three consecutive postseasons when she found the net in Game 1 of the 2026 playoffs against Montréal.

Minnesota now has 17 players under contract for the upcoming season, including eight two-time Walter Cup winners.
