Justice Christensen Scores Twice as Red Wings Rookies Win in OT

Justice Christensen scored twice, including the winner 3:14 into overtime, as Detroit's rookies rallied past the Columbus Blue Jackets 3-2 on Tuesday to close the NHL Prospect Tournament.
Christensen is signed to an AHL contract with the Grand Rapids Griffins. Griffins coach Dan Watson praised his shot and skating and said the defenseman gives the organization reasons to be excited about his transition to professional hockey.
Detroit needed a late push to reach overtime. Noah Dower Nilsson tied the game with one minute left in regulation while goaltender Trey Augustine was on the bench for an extra attacker. Nate Danielson and Anton Johansson assisted on the goal.
Josh Eernisse opened the scoring for Columbus. Christensen tied the game before Justin Dumais restored the Blue Jackets' lead on a third-period power play.
Augustine made 21 saves for his second win of the tournament. Dower Nilsson skated on the top line with Danielson and Carter Bear, while Jesse Kiiskinen moved to the second unit with Theo Rochette and Dylan James.
The Red Wings finished the tournament 2-1. They beat Dallas 4-3 in a shootout in Saturday's opener and lost 4-3 to Pittsburgh on Sunday. Detroit opens training camp Thursday at Little Caesars Arena.
