Jets test rookie Viggo Björck as second-line centre at camp

Viggo Björck has been skating at second-line centre in Winnipeg Jets camp, with Isak Rosén and Gabriel Vilardi on his wings. The club listed that combination in its September 17 camp report and again for its September 21 preseason game against Colorado. It is an audition, not a confirmed regular-season assignment.

The Jets selected Björck eighth overall in the 2026 NHL Draft. He was born March 12, 2008, according to the club, making him 18 at this camp. Sportsnet reported on September 24 that coach Scott Arniel had kept the line together through three preseason games while assessing how quickly Björck can adjust to NHL pace.

Winnipeg did not include Björck among the 12 players cut from camp on September 23, according to Global News. The team still has to settle its opening-night roster. Arniel described a gradual approach to the rookie: "We're just trying to gradually have him progress," he told Sportsnet. "And then it's also just him getting comfortable."
