Hurricanes sign Pyotr Kochetkov to two-year, $7.9 million extension
The 27-year-old goaltender's new deal begins in 2027-28 and carries a $3.95 million annual average value.
The Carolina Hurricanes signed goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov to a two-year, $7.9 million contract extension Friday. The new deal begins in 2027-28 and runs through 2028-29, with an average annual value of $3.95 million. His current contract pays him $2 million for 2026-27.
General manager Eric Tulsky praised Kochetkov's aggressive style in the club's announcement and said the Hurricanes believe he can help them pursue more championships.
Kochetkov, 27, played nine NHL games last season after a lower-body injury limited his availability. He went 6-2-0 with a 2.33 goals-against average and an .899 save percentage. Carolina selected him 36th overall in the 2019 NHL Draft, and he has appeared in 125 regular-season NHL games for the club.
