Hiller Praises Bobrovsky’s Early Influence at Maple Leafs Camp

Toronto coach Jim Hiller says Sergei Bobrovsky’s preparation is already making an impression at Maple Leafs training camp. After Tuesday’s practice in Etobicoke, Hiller described the two-time Stanley Cup winner as a quiet, humble presence whose competitive habits are drawing teammates’ attention, according to Sportsnet.
“When he speaks, you listen,” Hiller said. Defenseman Morgan Rielly said Bobrovsky has met teammates’ expectations for his work in the gym and at practice. Newcomer Darren Raddysh called him the hardest worker on the ice.
Bobrovsky, who turned 38 on Sunday, signed a three-year contract with Toronto on July 1 after seven seasons with Florida. He won the Stanley Cup with the Panthers in 2024 and 2025. In his Maple Leafs preseason debut against Montreal on Saturday, he stopped 10 of 11 shots while playing roughly half the game.
Bobrovsky told Sportsnet that he is still learning his new teammates and routine. His stated priority is to stop the puck and give Toronto a chance to win each night. The Maple Leafs are scheduled to play Ottawa in split-squad preseason games Wednesday.
