Filip Hallander is set to play his first game for the Edmonton Oilers against the San Jose Sharks on Saturday, Oct. 10. Shakir Mukhamadullin will also enter the lineup, replacing injured defenceman Jake Walman, Sportsnet reported.

Coach Mike Babcock wants Mukhamadullin to play with greater assertiveness as he gets another opportunity on Edmonton’s defence, according to Sportsnet. The NHL’s projected lineup pairs him with Ty Emberson.

Hallander joined Edmonton in a trade with Pittsburgh on Oct. 7. He practised Friday alongside Jason Dickinson and Kasperi Kapanen, and the Oilers’ pre-game report identified Saturday as a possible debut. The game at SAP Center is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET.
