Frost Sign Russian Goalie Daria Gredzen to One-Year Deal

The Minnesota Frost signed goaltender Daria Gredzen to a one-year Standard Player Agreement for the 2026-27 season on August 3, making her the first of the team's six 2026 draft picks to join the roster. Gredzen was selected 57th overall in the fifth round at the PWHL Draft in Detroit on June 17.

Gredzen spent the past seven seasons with Biryusa Krasnoyarsk in Russia's Zhenskaya Hockey League, posting a .931 save percentage across 187 career games. The 22-year-old earned Best Player honors in 2023-24 after leading the league with seven shutouts and helping her club reach its first championship final. She followed that with Goaltender of the Year recognition in 2024-25, recording 26 wins in 40 games with a 1.89 goals-against average and a .939 save percentage.

The Novosibirsk native also has international experience. She appeared in two games at the 2022 Beijing Olympics as the youngest player on the ROC roster at 17, and played at the 2019 IIHF U18 Women's World Championship.

The Frost now have 16 players under contract for the 2026-27 season. Gredzen joins goaltenders Marlène Boissonnault and Maddie Rooney on Minnesota's depth chart.

Minnesota used the ninth overall pick on defender Sara Swiderski from Ohio State in the first round before adding forward Viivi Vainikka, forward Maddy Christian, defender Tova Henderson, Gredzen, and forward Lara Beecher in later rounds.
