Friedman: Maple Leafs weigh price of an impact defenceman
Toronto would consider a significant price for a major blue-line addition, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported Saturday.
Toronto is prepared to trade a valuable asset for a defenceman who would make a substantial impact, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported Saturday.
Friedman said the Maple Leafs are unwilling to give up their best assets for a lesser replacement. He also reported that they would consider exchanging an older player for a younger one.
The report comes with Chris Tanev sidelined by an upper-body injury. Sportsnet said Tanev skated Saturday but is expected to miss multiple weeks.
Toronto is also without John Tavares, who is week to week with a lower-body injury, according to the NHL’s Saturday status report. He left Thursday’s 5-4 overtime loss to Buffalo.
