Philadelphia sent the defenceman to its AHL affiliate Saturday as Owen Tippett and Travis Konecny worked towards possible returns.
The Philadelphia Flyers assigned defenceman Hunter McDonald to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms on Saturday, NHL.com confirmed in its preview of Philadelphia’s game against Utah.
The move leaves Philadelphia with two available roster places, according to Pro Hockey Rumors. Owen Tippett and Travis Konecny are possible options to return against Utah on Sunday, but coach Rick Tocchet had not confirmed their availability after Saturday’s practice.
McDonald played five games during his recall. Pro Hockey Rumors reported that he had no points, 21 hits and two fighting majors while averaging 12 minutes 37 seconds per game.
