Firebirds Add Jack Randl, Goalie Connor Murphy For 2026-27

The Coachella Valley Firebirds have added forward Jack Randl and goaltender Connor Murphy, filling out the Seattle Kraken's AHL roster in the run-up to training camp.

Randl, 26, comes up from the Kansas City Mavericks, the Kraken's ECHL affiliate, where he set career highs last season with 23 goals and 26 assists. He was named ECHL Player of the Week twice. The Mavericks won the Brabham Cup as the ECHL's regular season champion before losing in the Kelly Cup Final.

Murphy, signed two days before Randl, spent the past three seasons in the Calgary Flames organization after an undrafted college career split between Northeastern and Union. He has 26 AHL games with the Calgary Wranglers, going 8-8-4 with a .910 save percentage and a 2.92 goals-against average, plus stretches in the ECHL with the Rapid City Rush. Calgary put him on an NHL contract late in 2024-25 for depth purposes, though he never appeared above the AHL level. The Firebirds announced Murphy's one-year AHL contract on September 1, followed by Randl's one-year AHL deal on September 3.

He is not the NHL defenceman of the same name.

Both signings were announced before the Kraken's rookie camp, which opened Friday, September 11 at Kraken Community Iceplex. Seattle's prospects played two showcase games against Vancouver Canucks prospects in Abbotsford, British Columbia, on September 12 and 13. Full Kraken training camp runs September 17 through September 30, according to the Kraken Community Iceplex practice schedule.
