Jani Nyman scores twice in Coachella Valley shootout loss

Nyman scored twice on the power play, including the tying goal in the third period, before Abbotsford won 5-4 on Sunday.

Jani Nyman scored two power-play goals as the Coachella Valley Firebirds recovered from a three-goal deficit before losing 5-4 in a shootout to the Abbotsford Canucks on Sunday, Oct. 18, at Rogers Forum.

Nyman got the Firebirds on the scoreboard at 4:56 of the second period. His second goal, at 14:29 of the third, tied it 4-4. Neither team scored in overtime, and Abbotsford won the shootout.

The two goals gave Nyman eight this season, a total the Firebirds said led the AHL. Coachella Valley finished 2-for-3 on the power play and held a 37-25 advantage in shots.
