Evangelista scores twice as Devils beat Islanders 4-1 in preseason finale

Luke Evangelista scored twice and Jake Allen made 14 saves as the New Jersey Devils beat the New York Islanders 4-1 on Saturday in their preseason finale at UBS Arena. It was the first time the Devils had their full lineup together this preseason, according to the club's recap.
Evangelista opened the scoring on a first-period power play. Arseny Gritsyuk scored 42 seconds into the second period, and Evangelista scored again 19 seconds later. Dougie Hamilton extended New Jersey's lead to 4-0 before Simon Holmstrom answered for the Islanders late in the third.
Evan Rodrigues assisted on the Gritsyuk and Hamilton goals. Allen stopped 14 of 15 shots. The Devils open their regular season at home against the Philadelphia Flyers on October 1.
