Eichel penalty shot helps Vegas erase three-goal deficit against Toronto

The Golden Knights recovered from a 3-0 start to win 4-3 in a shootout at T-Mobile Arena.

Jack Eichel's penalty-shot goal brought the Vegas Golden Knights level after an early three-goal deficit, setting up a 4-3 shootout win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday at T-Mobile Arena.

Toronto built a 3-0 lead inside the opening nine minutes. Jack Roslovic scored at 0:34 of the first period, Easton Cowan followed at 3:20 and Nick Paul added the third at 8:37, according to the NHL's official play-by-play.

Mark Stone started the comeback at 17:36 of the first. Brett Howden scored 1:12 into the second after a pass from Mitch Marner. Eichel then converted a penalty shot at 3:58 after Morgan Rielly tripped him on a breakaway.

Braeden Bowman and Trevor Connelly scored in the shootout for Vegas. Adin Hill made 21 saves before the tiebreaker and stopped four shootout attempts. Toronto's Sergei Bobrovsky finished with 40 saves.

Vegas has won three straight games and improved to 4-1-0. Toronto, playing its first road game of the season, is 2-2-1.
