Pierre-Luc Dubois wants his line to defend by keeping possession, with Alex Tuch and Tom Wilson supporting him at both ends of the ice.

In a Capitals feature published Friday, Dubois explained that limiting an opponent’s time with the puck reduces the chances it can create. “Our goal is just to have the puck,” he said.

The three forwards each scored at five-on-five in Washington’s 5-3 win over Pittsburgh on Wednesday. Dubois highlighted Tuch’s goal on a two-on-zero rush after a prolonged defensive-zone shift as an example of the line turning defensive work into an attack.

Coach Spencer Carbery praised the wingers’ intelligence and their contributions on offence and defence. He said he wants to manage their special-teams minutes to keep their five-on-five shifts productive.
