Jake DeBrusk wants the Vancouver Canucks to learn from Thursday’s 7-2 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes rather than quickly put it behind them.

Speaking after the game, DeBrusk said Carolina’s ability to win puck battles and execute plays illustrated the standard Vancouver needs to reach. He stressed that the Canucks must provide better support for their goaltenders as their road trip continues.

The comments were included in Vancouver’s official Saturday preview of its visit to New Jersey. The Canucks are on a six-game trip and face the New York Rangers on Sunday after their stop in Newark.

Vancouver’s offence has had some early production despite Thursday’s setback. Elias Pettersson collected two points against Carolina, taking him to eight points through five games, with two goals and six assists.
