Curtis Lazar Signs With Lausanne for Rest of 2026-27
The 31-year-old forward, a 617-game NHL veteran, has signed a one-year deal with HC Lausanne of the Swiss National League.
Curtis Lazar is going to Europe for the first time. The veteran forward has signed with HC Lausanne of the Swiss National League for the remainder of the 2026-27 season, ending a run of about a decade as an NHL regular.
Lazar, 31, spent last season with the Edmonton Oilers in a spare-forward role, dressing for 45 regular-season games and producing six points while averaging 8:55 of ice time. That was his lightest workload in years. His career average sits at 11:43 per game across 617 NHL appearances with seven franchises, most of it as a bottom-six checking forward with penalty-kill duty.
The British Columbia native was Ottawa's first-round pick in 2013 after a decorated junior career with the Edmonton Oil Kings, where he won two WHL championships and a Memorial Cup. He was an AHL All-Star in his lone full season at that level.
In Lausanne he joins a roster with a distinctly North American accent. Colin Miller, Erik Brannstrom, Drake Caggiula and Austin Czarnik are all in the fold. Lazar and Miller were teammates in New Jersey and in Buffalo, so at least one familiar face is waiting when he arrives.
