Compher returns to Red Wings practice, game status uncertain
Todd McLellan said J.T. Compher was moving towards a return, while Marco Kasper and Mason Appleton remained further away.
J.T. Compher rejoined the Detroit Red Wings at Monday’s practice, but coach Todd McLellan had not confirmed whether the forward would return against New Jersey on Tuesday, Oct. 13. Compher has been out since Oct. 4 with an undisclosed injury, according to the club’s report.
McLellan said Compher was progressing towards a return and that he still needed to speak with the trainers and doctors before deciding on Tuesday’s game. Detroit hosts the Devils at Little Caesars Arena at 6 p.m. ET.
Marco Kasper, who has an upper-body injury, and Mason Appleton, whose injury is undisclosed, remain further from returning. McLellan described both as still a ways away.
Justin Faulk and Lucas Raymond took maintenance days Monday. The Red Wings’ report said both would play Tuesday.
Detroit has used 11 forwards and seven defencemen in three of its first five games. McLellan said he was continuing to look for settled defensive partnerships, including a partner for Moritz Seider, while crediting Albert Johansson’s work in that role.
