Capitals look to end home skid against Panthers before road trip

The Washington Capitals will try to salvage the final game of their homestand when the Florida Panthers visit Capital One Arena at 12:30 p.m. ET Saturday. Washington lost 5–1 to Minnesota on Sunday and fell 6–5 to Dallas on Tuesday after trailing 4–0.

Justin Sourdif is projected to centre Alex Ovechkin and Anthony Beauvillier again. Beauvillier told the Capitals that the group had been winning more pucks down low and spending longer in the offensive zone. Washington has outscored opponents 30–20 at five-on-five with Ovechkin and Beauvillier on the ice together since Beauvillier joined the club in March 2025, according to the team.

Florida starts a three-game trip after beating Chicago 5–3 on Wednesday. Sandis Vilmanis had two goals and two assists in the win, his first multipoint NHL game. The Panthers are 5–3–2 on the road.

Washington leaves Monday for a road trip that opens Tuesday in Ottawa. The Capitals and Panthers meet again at Capital One Arena on Nov. 27 at 3 p.m. ET.
