Capitals loan Dylan McIlrath to Hershey

The defenceman returns to the Bears after making four appearances for Washington this season.

Dylan McIlrath is returning to the Hershey Bears on loan from the Washington Capitals. Hershey announced the NHL club’s decision Monday, citing Capitals general manager Chris Patrick.

McIlrath played four games for Washington this season. He previously spent three seasons with Hershey, from 2021 to 2024, and served as captain for the Bears’ consecutive Calder Cup titles in 2023 and 2024.

The defenceman contributed 32 regular-season points across 192 appearances during that stretch. He also played in each of Hershey’s 43 playoff games during those two championship runs.
