Capitals acquire Rémi Poirier from Devils for seventh-round pick
Washington gives up its own 2027 seventh-round selection for the goaltender, who has yet to appear in an NHL game.
The Washington Capitals acquired goaltender Rémi Poirier from the New Jersey Devils on Sunday for Washington's seventh-round pick in the 2027 NHL Draft, the Capitals announced.
New Jersey claimed Poirier off waivers from Dallas on Sept. 27. He did not play for the Devils and is still awaiting his NHL debut.
Poirier played 52 regular-season games for the AHL's Texas Stars last season, recording 27 wins, 19 losses and six overtime losses. He finished with a 2.61 goals-against average and a .912 save percentage. Dallas selected him 185th overall in the sixth round of the 2020 draft.
