Joel Eriksson Ek is expected to be available for the Minnesota Wild’s visit to the Washington Capitals after practising Saturday. NHL.com reported that the centre suffered an undisclosed injury in Thursday’s 4-3 overtime loss to the New York Islanders.

Washington defenceman Rasmus Sandin also took a step in his recovery. He joined teammates for the beginning of practice in a non-contact jersey, following skills work. It was his first skate with the team since he tore his ACL on April 11, according to NHL.com.

The Wild’s injury list still includes Brock Faber, Marcus Foligno, Nick Foligno, Filip Gustavsson and Jared Spurgeon. Washington lists Sandin and Vincent Desharnais as injured.
