Canucks move Cammi Granato from assistant GM to senior amateur adviser
The Hall of Famer is stepping away from the assistant general manager role to focus on the amateur and scouting side in Vancouver.
The Vancouver Canucks announced Friday that Cammi Granato is transitioning from assistant general manager to senior amateur adviser, with general manager Ryan Johnson confirming the move.
"I am excited to have Cammi move to the position of Senior Amateur Advisor," Johnson said. "Cammi is a quality person who knows a lot about the inner workings of our organization."
Granato said the change reflected her own priorities within hockey operations. "After taking some time to reflect on things, I feel this is the perfect time to transition into a new role with the Canucks," she said. "Helping on the amateur side is something I am extremely passionate about."
Granato joined the Canucks in February 2022, hired by then-president of hockey operations Jim Rutherford. Before that, she made history as the NHL's first full-time female pro scout, working with the Seattle Kraken.
A Hockey Hall of Famer, Granato captained the United States to its first Olympic gold medal in women's hockey at the 1998 Nagano Games. She was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2010.
In her new role, Granato remains part of the Canucks' hockey operations department, shifting her focus toward the club's amateur and scouting efforts.
