Bruins Set Hockey Fights Cancer Night for Thursday vs. Predators
Boston hosts Nashville on Oct. 22 at TD Garden with Beth Israel Lahey Health as presenting sponsor, and the night includes tributes to Alex Gimenez and a cheque for over $290,000 to the Pan-Mass Challenge.
The Boston Bruins will hold Hockey Fights Cancer Night, presented by Beth Israel Lahey Health, on Thursday, Oct. 22, when they host the Nashville Predators at TD Garden. Puck drop is 7 p.m. ET.
The NHL and NHL Players' Association initiative is in its 28th season and is powered by the V Foundation for Cancer Research. Lavender, the colour for all forms of cancer awareness, will be worked into the game, and Bruins coaches and broadcasters will wear lavender pins.
Beth Israel Lahey Health and the Bruins announced a multiyear partnership before the season. On Thursday, the health system will recognize physicians, nurses, patients and caretakers during the game. The Bruins will name Dr. Laura Dominici, a breast surgeon and researcher at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, as their Community All-Star.
Fans can fill out "I Fight For" cards at staff tables around the building and hold them up during the second period, when the team pauses to honour those who have fought or are fighting cancer. Tickets to the game have been donated to cancer patients at Greater Boston hospitals, and players will meet with pediatric cancer patients.
Goaltender Jeremy Swayman has been the club's Hockey Fights Cancer Champion since the 2025-26 season and is an ambassador for the V Foundation.
The team will also remember Alex Gimenez, who joined the organization in July as Director of Hockey Operations, Collective Bargaining Agreement, and died in September after a battle with cancer. Proceeds from signed mystery pucks sold by the Bruins Foundation on Thursday will go to the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation.
The Foundation will present a cheque for over $290,000 to the Pan-Mass Challenge, which raises money for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. More than 30 riders representing the Bruins Foundation took part in the 192-mile ride in August.
An online auction of autographed Hockey Fights Cancer jerseys and a raffle for a Morgan Geekie autographed jersey both close at 10 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30. Those, along with Thursday's 50/50 raffle, benefit the Cam Neely Foundation. Details are at BostonBruins.com/HFC.
