Boston Fleet Sign Defender Leah Stecker to Three Year Deal

The Boston Fleet signed defender Leah Stecker to a three-year Standard Player Agreement through the 2028-29 season on August 3, according to the PWHL. Stecker, 22, was selected 27th overall in the third round of the 2026 PWHL Draft on June 17.

The Randolph, New Jersey native becomes the first of Boston's five 2026 draft picks to sign ahead of the upcoming season. She joins a Fleet defensive group that includes 2026 PWHL Defender of the Year Megan Keller and Rookie of the Year Haley Winn, along with Amanda Boulier and Rylind MacKinnon. Stecker and Winn are the only two Fleet players signed through 2028-29.

Stecker played four seasons at Penn State, appearing in 152 games with 12 goals and 45 assists for 57 points. As a senior and alternate captain in 2025-26, she posted career highs with 20 points (three goals, 17 assists) in 39 games, helping the Nittany Lions reach their first Frozen Four. The Daily Collegian noted she recorded more than 80 career blocked shots during her four years.

Boston now has 18 players under contract for the upcoming season. Stecker is the second New Jersey-born player drafted in the PWHL and the first who played high school hockey in the state.
