Ben Hutton Joins Senators Camp on a Professional Tryout
The 33-year-old defenceman, fresh off five seasons in Vegas, will try to earn a job in Ottawa's camp.
Ben Hutton is coming to Ottawa's training camp on a professional tryout, the Senators announced Thursday.
The 33-year-old left-shot defenceman spent the past five seasons with the Vegas Golden Knights. He played 55 games for Vegas last season and set a career high with six goals, adding nine assists, then appeared in seven playoff games with one assist as the Golden Knights reached the Stanley Cup Final.
He also made two playoff appearances during Vegas' Stanley Cup run in 2023.
The six-foot-three Brockville, Ont., native has 575 NHL games on his resume between the Golden Knights, Canucks, Kings, Ducks and Maple Leafs, with 30 goals and 109 assists.
A PTO carries no contract guarantee. Hutton will need to play his way onto the roster, which makes the competition on Ottawa's blue line a little more crowded than it was Wednesday.
