Amerks to Host Youth Hockey Night Friday, With Domenic Pittis on Hand
Rochester faces the Hartford Wolf Pack at Blue Cross Arena on Nov. 6, and Amerks Hall of Famer Domenic Pittis will help drop the ceremonial puck.
The Rochester Americans will mark Youth Hockey Night, presented by HIRE Hockey, when the Hartford Wolf Pack visit Blue Cross Arena on Friday, Nov. 6.
Every youth hockey player in the Rochester area gets a free ticket to the game, the club said, and family and friends can buy discounted seats. Local youth hockey organizations that want to attend can contact Jordan Balls at 585-286-9950.
Amerks Hall of Famer Domenic Pittis will take part in the ceremonial puck drop and sign autographs in the Amerks Hall of Fame area during the first intermission. Pittis was recently named general manager of the Rochester Jr. Americans, which the club describes as New York State's largest youth hockey organization.
Pittis entered the club's Hall of Fame in 2020. He had 246 points (75 goals, 171 assists) in 204 games over parts of three seasons with Rochester, and his first season with the club, 1998-99, brought the John B. Sollenberger Trophy as the AHL scoring leader on 36 goals, 66 assists and 104 points. He added 70 points (16 goals, 54 assists) in 57 playoff games as Rochester reached the Calder Cup Finals two years running, in 1999 and 2000. His 54 playoff assists are the most in franchise history.
His 19-year pro career included 86 NHL games split among Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Edmonton and Nashville, plus two Swiss League titles. Once his playing days ended, he coached in player development for Calgary and was an assistant behind the bench of the Stockton Heat, a former AHL club.
"Partnering with the Rochester Americans for Youth Hockey is an opportunity to celebrate that community and the next generation of players who will carry the game forward," HIRE Hockey founder and CEO Cameron Cook said.
Before the game, fans 21 and older can get $5 12-ounce beers at the Genesee Brew House inside the arena until puck drop, during a Genesee Brewery pregame happy hour. Single-game tickets for the 2026-27 season start at $10.
