Zayne Parekh picked up two first-period assists for the Calgary Flames in Friday’s 5–3 loss to the Anaheim Ducks at Scotiabank Saddledome.

Parekh assisted on William Stromgren’s opening goal. On the power play, he sent the puck across the slot to Joel Farabee, who scored Calgary’s third goal. Anaheim scored the final four goals.

Parekh told Sportsnet after the game that he felt more comfortable making plays with the puck than he had a year earlier. “I feel like I belong,” he said. Flames coach Ryan Huska told Sportsnet that the defenceman was getting better at choosing when to join the attack.

The two assists gave Parekh six on the season.
