Will Smith could fill in at centre for Sharks if Celebrini sits

Will Smith has been skating at centre in practice, and he could move there Thursday if the San Jose Sharks are without Macklin Celebrini against the St. Louis Blues. Puck drop is 8 p.m. ET at Enterprise Center.

Celebrini is day to day with a lower-body injury and in jeopardy of missing a second straight game. He did not practice Tuesday or Wednesday.

The Blues (1-2-0) are playing their home opener after opening the season with three straight road games. They have lost their last two, including a 4-2 defeat at the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday.
