Wild's Brock Faber held out after puck strikes head in preseason finale
Faber finished the second period against Dallas, but Minnesota kept him out of the third as a precaution while the severity remained unclear.
Minnesota Wild defenceman Brock Faber did not play the third period of Friday's 2-1 preseason loss to the Dallas Stars after a shot from the point hit him in the head in the second period, NHL.com reported.
Faber went down briefly with 9:36 left in the period, then skated to the bench without assistance. He returned for his next shift and finished the period. Wild coach John Hynes said holding him out afterward was partly precautionary and that the club did not yet know whether the injury was serious.
Radek Faksa and Thomas Harley scored for Dallas, while Joel Eriksson Ek scored for Minnesota. The game was the preseason finale for both clubs. The Wild open the regular season Thursday at Nashville.
