Minnesota Wild defenceman Brock Faber is out indefinitely after undergoing surgery Sunday for a skull fracture, general manager Bill Guerin said Tuesday. Faber was injured when a puck struck his head during Friday's preseason loss to the Dallas Stars.

Faber skated to the bench under his own power, returned for his next shift and finished the second period. He did not play in the third. Guerin said the team would follow its doctors' guidance on a timeline for his return.

The 24-year-old had 51 points (15 goals, 36 assists) in 80 regular-season games in 2025-26. He had been expected to start this season on a defence pair with Quinn Hughes. Minnesota opens its regular season Thursday at Nashville.
