Where Stars Prospects Develop: Texas and Idaho
Dallas' professional affiliates are the AHL's Texas Stars and the ECHL's Idaho Steelheads.
The Dallas Stars' professional development system has two affiliates below the NHL club: the Texas Stars in the American Hockey League and the Idaho Steelheads in the ECHL.
Texas has served as Dallas' top minor-league affiliate since its inaugural 2009-10 season. The team is based in Cedar Park and plays home games at H-E-B Center. The Texas Stars are in the AHL's Central Division.
Idaho has been Dallas' ECHL affiliate since 2005-06, after an earlier affiliation in 2003-04. The Steelheads play at Idaho Central Arena in Boise and are in the ECHL's Western Conference Mountain Division.
Dallas competes in the NHL's Central Division in the Western Conference. The affiliation dates, home venues and league placements distinguish the two steps in the Stars' current minor-league system.
