Turcotte scores twice as Kings close preseason with 6-2 win over Ducks

Alex Turcotte scored twice in the third period, and the Los Angeles Kings finished their preseason with a 6-2 win over the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday afternoon at Crypto.com Arena.

Anaheim led twice in the first period. Nikita Nesterenko opened the scoring just over seven minutes in. The Ducks forced a turnover behind the Kings net, and Nesterenko shook defenceman Cody Ceci in front and finished a pass from Tim Washe.

Scott Laughton answered 98 seconds later. Ceci walked the blue line and shot, Erik Haula got a piece of it, and Laughton buried the rebound off the end boards.

Beckett Sennecke restored the Anaheim lead on a power play midway through the period. Leo Carlsson found him at the back post after the Kings turned the puck over along the boards in their own end. It was Sennecke's fourth goal of the exhibition schedule.

The Kings tied it in the final minute of the period. Brian Dumoulin took a pass from Drew Doughty and moved it to Adrian Kempe in the slot for his first goal of the preseason.

Los Angeles went ahead for good on the power play midway through the second. Quinton Byfield held the zone at the blue line and worked the puck low to Artemi Panarin. Panarin played a give-and-go with Kempe, then set up Mats Zuccarello for a 3-2 lead.

Turcotte took over in the third. He first tipped a Doughty point shot past Ducks goaltender Lukas Dostal for a 4-2 lead. He then forced a neutral-zone turnover and finished a feed from Zuccarello top shelf on the rush.

The second power-play unit added the final goal in the third period. Doughty set up Turcotte for a one-timer that went wide, and the puck kicked hard off the end boards to Haula for a tap-in at the back post.

Turcotte and Doughty each finished with three points. Zuccarello had a goal and two assists.
