Texas Stars Name 23-Player Roster for Opening Night vs. Iowa
The Dallas Stars' AHL affiliate opens the 2026-27 season at home tonight against the Iowa Wild, with captain Curtis McKenzie back for a 14th pro season.

The Texas Stars have set their season-opening roster: 23 players, including eight defencemen, ahead of tonight's game against the Iowa Wild at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park. Puck drop is 7:00 p.m.
It is the sixth straight season and the 14th time in franchise history that Texas begins at home. The Stars and Wild last opened a season against each other in 2021-22, when the division rivals split a weekend series in Cedar Park. They play again Saturday at 7:00 p.m. to close out the weekend, the start of an eight-game season series.
Seventeen of the 23 players on the roster appeared in at least one game for Texas in 2025-26. That group includes longtime captain Curtis McKenzie, who is back for his 14th professional season and his 11th in the Stars organization. Defenceman Ben Gleason returns for the first time since 2022-23, beginning his ninth pro campaign and sixth with Texas.
Two new veterans arrive in Cedar Park. Defenceman Kyle Burroughs starts his 13th pro season, and Mike Sgarbossa, a former Calder Cup champion, begins his 15th year as a pro.
