The Dallas Stars will hold their annual Hockey Fights Cancer Night on Tuesday, Oct. 13, when they host the Colorado Avalanche at American Airlines Center. The team announced the night on Tuesday, Oct. 6.

Hockey Fights Cancer is a joint initiative of the NHL and the NHL Players' Association. The Stars are working locally with Baylor Scott & White Health to encourage regular cancer screenings.

All members of the Dallas coaching staff and broadcast team will wear Hockey Fights Cancer pins and ties during the game. Fans can fill out "I'm Fighting For" cards at the fan centre outside section 113 and share them on social media with #StarsFightCancer. The team will give out 150 community tickets to the Visiting Nurse Association of Texas (VNA), Clayton Dabney for Kids with Cancer and Wipe Out Kids' Cancer.

Through the Dallas Stars Foundation, fans can bid on autographed lavender Hockey Fights Cancer jerseys at DallasStars.com/JerseyAuction. Autographed mystery pucks will be sold at the fan centre. Proceeds from the auction, the puck sales and the Foundation's 50/50 Raffle will go to the V Foundation for Cancer Research, which funds pediatric cancer research in Texas, and to VNA Children's Haven, which provides hospice care for children with life-limiting illnesses across 16 North Texas counties.

A young cancer survivor will be the guest of honour, meeting the team at morning skate and ringing the bell at centre ice before the game.
