

Sogaard stops 27 as Syracuse blanks Laval in season opener
Mads Sogaard earned a shutout in his Crunch debut, while Nick Abruzzese supplied both goals in a 2-0 win at Laval.


Mads Sogaard began his Syracuse Crunch career with a shutout Friday, making 27 saves in a 2-0 victory over the Laval Rocket at Place Bell.
Nick Abruzzese provided the offence. He opened the scoring 14:13 into the first period, then added a goal on a five-on-three power play at 7:04 of the third.
Laval goaltender Jacob Fowler finished with 29 saves on 31 shots. Syracuse went 1-for-6 with the man advantage and held the Rocket scoreless on their two power plays.
The teams meet again on Saturday.
