Sharks waive Eric Comrie and Jimmy Huntington for potential Barracuda assignments
San Jose placed the two players on waivers for the purpose of assigning them to its AHL club's training camp.
The San Jose Sharks placed goaltender Eric Comrie and forward Jimmy Huntington on waivers Friday for the purpose of assigning them to the San Jose Barracuda's training camp, the club's media relations account announced. The proposed assignments depend on the waiver process; the announcement did not say either player had joined the AHL club.
Huntington is familiar with the Barracuda. He recorded 15 goals and 33 assists for 48 points in 71 AHL games last season, according to the Sharks' announcement of his new contract in May.
Comrie joined San Jose in July after two seasons with the Winnipeg Jets. The Sharks' waiver decision puts the veteran goaltender in line for a possible Barracuda assignment if he clears. It does not, by itself, determine where he will start the regular season.
