Charlie Townsend has added San Jose Barracuda assistant general manager to his duties as director of hockey operations for the San Jose Sharks, Sharks general manager Mike Grier announced Saturday, Oct. 3.

Townsend will retain his Sharks position and work with Barracuda general manager Joe Will on the AHL club's hockey operations. His responsibilities include evaluating players, handling contracts and overseeing recalls and reassignments.

"Charlie has been a valuable resource for myself and our staff over the past several seasons," Grier said. "His knowledge of analytics, hockey strategy and systems is extremely unique. He is diligent in the work he produces and has a great ability to connect personally with people."
