William Eklund left the Ottawa Senators' home opener against the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday, Oct. 8, with a lower-body injury. The Senators announced he would not return, Sportsnet reported.

Eklund was hurt midway through the first period after taking a hit from a Flyers defenceman. Sportsnet reported that he could not put weight on his left leg and needed help reaching Ottawa's dressing room.

The 23-year-old forward entered Thursday with one goal and one assist in three games this season.
