Senators’ Andre Burakovsky not expected to play season opener
An upper-body injury is expected to keep the winger out of Saturday’s game at Toronto, coach Travis Green said Wednesday.
Ottawa coach Travis Green does not expect Andre Burakovsky to be available for the Senators’ first game of the season, at Toronto on Saturday, Oct. 3.
Green gave the update Wednesday. Burakovsky has an upper-body injury and has stayed off the ice since leaving Ottawa’s preseason finale against Montreal on Saturday, Sept. 26.
Sportsnet reported that the winger took a cross-check from behind and went head-first into the boards before exiting the game.
Chicago traded Burakovsky to Ottawa in June for a sixth-round selection in the 2027 draft. The 31-year-old finished last season with 11 goals and 33 points in 75 games for the Blackhawks.
