The Buffalo Sabres have signed defenceman Louis Crevier to a four-year, $16 million contract. The deal carries an average annual value of $4 million and begins next season, 2027-28.

Crevier, 25, was acquired by Buffalo on June 23 in the trade that sent defenceman Bowen Byram and forward Jordan Greenway to the Chicago Blackhawks. He had 25 points (seven goals, 18 assists) in 78 games for Chicago last season.

He was entering the final year of a two-year contract he signed with the Blackhawks on July 17, 2025, and could have become a restricted free agent after this season. Instead he is now signed through 2030-31.

Chicago selected Crevier in the seventh round (No. 188) of the 2020 NHL Draft. He has 32 points (10 goals, 22 assists) in 134 regular-season games.

The Sabres open their regular season tonight at the Columbus Blue Jackets, with puck drop at 7 p.m. ET, according to the schedule.
