Report: PWHL considers 32-game schedule with two conferences
The Hockey News describes an unconfirmed alignment proposal and an October 1 deadline for team staff; the league has announced neither measure.
The Hockey News reported Thursday that the PWHL is considering a 32-game schedule with two six-team conferences for 2026-27. The league has not announced an alignment or a full schedule, and the outlet said the proposal could change.
Under the reported plan, one conference would contain Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, Hamilton, Boston and New York. The other would contain Detroit, Minnesota, Vancouver, Seattle, Las Vegas and San Jose. Each club would play its five conference opponents four times and its six cross-conference opponents twice, for 32 games. The report said the season could open on the first or second weekend of December.
The same report said team staff were told in July to be based in their club markets by October 1. The PWHL has not publicly confirmed that requirement. No playoff format has been announced.
