Red Wings recall Michal Postava from Grand Rapids on emergency basis
Detroit brings back the goalie after he opened his AHL season with five consecutive wins.
Detroit recalled goaltender Michal Postava from the Grand Rapids Griffins under emergency conditions Wednesday, the Red Wings and Griffins announced.
Postava has won each of his five AHL starts this season, with a 1.20 goals-against average and a .955 save percentage. The AHL named him its Goaltender of the Month for October.
He has already appeared for Detroit this season. His NHL debut came in relief against Vancouver on Oct. 22, and his first start produced a 4-3 shootout win over Edmonton on Oct. 26.
Against Edmonton, Postava made 24 saves through overtime and stopped all three shootout attempts, according to Detroit’s announcement.
Postava posted a 17-6-0 record in 25 regular-season appearances for Grand Rapids last season, with a 1.71 goals-against average, a .937 save percentage and four shutouts.
