The New York Rangers visit the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday, Oct. 17, seeking a response to Thursday’s 7-1 loss against the New Jersey Devils. The game starts at 7 p.m. ET and will air on MSG Network, the Rangers announced.

New York is 6-3-0. Its penalty kill has stopped 26 of 28 opportunities, a 92.9 per cent rate that ranks third in the NHL, according to the club’s game notes. The Rangers have allowed two goals or fewer in six of their first nine games.

Alexis Lafrenière enters with points in six consecutive games, totalling seven goals and four assists during that stretch. His seven goals and 11 points lead New York.

The Rangers’ most recent performance was a sharp setback: New Jersey scored four times in the second period, and New York finished with 19 shots, Field Level Media reported. Coach Mike Sullivan said the defeat required the team to examine its approach and respond.

Columbus is also looking to recover after consecutive losses to St. Louis and Florida. The Blue Jackets conceded four power-play goals in Tuesday’s 7-3 loss to the Panthers, leaving their penalty kill at seven goals allowed in 18 opportunities, according to Field Level Media.
