Detroit successfully challenged an Oliver Bjorkstrand goal for offside in the first period of its Oct. 2 home opener against the New York Rangers at Little Caesars Arena. The review at 7:08 overturned the goal.

The NHL Situation Room determined that Eeli Tolvanen entered the offensive zone before the puck ahead of Bjorkstrand's goal. Both forwards were in the Rangers' lineup.

The clock was reset to 12:57 remaining in the period, or 7:03 elapsed, when the offside occurred. Rule 38.9 allows a goal to be disallowed when video review establishes that an attacking player entered the zone ahead of the puck and play should have stopped for offside.
